Why own a blog and what is it?
Why do people blog? is a question that i ask myself a lot, ever since I began this blog for my English class. Why would you want to write about something, and have people comment on your writing if you are even lucky enough to have a single reader. Don’t get me wrong some blogs are helpful and can provide decent info on a problem or shed some light on a situation that you might be having, but other than that some blogs are a waste of time. And on this fact and this fact alone I am here to help.
Blogs are basically on-line bulletin boards that people can respond to by leaving on-line comments. These bulletin boards can be huge and have a wide variety of interesting topics such as the blogs on the New York Times website and at CNN.com; or they can be personal pieces by everyday people looking to help others and looking for help themselves. The ability to comment someone else’s blog is a huge role in keeping the blog ball rolling, without comments and readers what’s the point of continuing to write unless your one of those strange people who write just so they can read it to their pets.
Also another reason to have a blog is simply from a economical stand point, and its not because people are amazing blog writers (well that’s part of it), it because people are stupid. Companies like to place their advertisements all over the web, and why not on people’s blogs. If your blog has a lot of subscriptions and people actually like what you write companies will pay you to allow them to place advertisements on your page. The funny thing is that most of the ads portray items that don’t really provide any help to the consumer what so ever, such as miracle hair growth gel; but what is really funny is that people actually waste their money on some of this garbage. So if you want to make some quick easy money create an interesting blog that people will read and promote the hell out of it.
How exactly can you promote a blog? I gave you guys one good example on how to promote your blogs already and that was advertisements. Another way to promote blogs is through customizing your blog to catch the attention of passer-byers or at least give your post interesting titles. I remember looking through the newspaper one time, and I saw a pizza advertisement that sounded like it should be the review of a porno flick. Learning HTML formatting is hard but it gives you more options when customizing.
Another way to promote which has gotten huge in the last couple of years is Youtube. That’s right my friends, youtube. You can place video blogs up, and provide info to your typed blog and i will guarantee if your video blog is at least mediocre people will watch and people will visit. So if you post it, they will read.
