Hot rod of the future

A hot rod is a car that has gained a huge amount of popularity in an amount of time and a machine that everyone wants to drive. In 2008, that machine just might the hybrid cars of today. With gas prices on the rise and expectations to hit around 5 dollars a gallon people are going out and getting vehicles that get amazing mileage and nothing gets better mileage than a hybrid. The new hot rod is the Toyota Prius, when your on the LIE you will probably see more Prius‘ than any other car on the road. But other car makers dont want Toyota to corner the market so now there are a few hybrid models out there. Nissan, Ford, Lexus, and GM have begun making new hybrid and better gas mileage cars and SUVs. GM has a system that allows the engines on some of its vehicles to use half of its cylinders when they are not needed allowing the driver to save more money on gas, and get better mileage. Nowadays even Mercedes has stepped into the Hybrid market, soon V8 muscle cars of the past just might be replaced by the lithium-ion engines of the hybrid. Also for the people who love their horses their is GM’s E-85 vehicles that run on gasoline and on ethanol 85, so your saving the planet and using an alternative fuel source. Even planes have stepped onto the alternate fuel market, Virgin had created a jumbo jet that runs a bio fuel, experts said that it couldn’t be done, that the fuel would freeze in the lines at 30,000 feet up in that air. It even had a sucessful flight from England to France. With the planet being depleted of its natural resources we eventually will have to find a way around the use of oil.
